Movement Workshop for Co-Creating Livable Futures

Movement Workshop for Co-Creating Livable Futures

  • The Ohio State University, Sullivant Hall, Room 350 (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

In this movement-based workshop, OSU Dance alumni Michael J. Morris, PhD, and Kelly Klein, PhD, facilitate an exploration of the question: what are possible structures for co-creating a livable future? What are the rituals and practices we need in order to support us in the ongoing work of co-creating worlds in the midst of accelerating complexity and heightened experiences of difference? Bringing together our experiences in dance-making, improvisation, performance, yoga, critical theories of embodiment, and meaning-making traditions including astrology, tarot, and magic, we will engage imagination and invention as vital strategies for interpersonal relations and social change.

RSVP requested.

Ben Cuevas Yarn Bombing Workshop

Ben Cuevas is a multimedia artist who works in the areas of fiber arts, performance and installation. Influenced by feminist and queer theory, he often explores the theme of embodiment from his perspective as a queer, HIV-positive person of color. Cuevas is well known for his intricate and anatomically-accurate knitted sculptures of body parts which allude to medical discourses on the body and to traditional notions of women’s craft. During his presentation at OSU, he will discuss the trajectory of his work and the various social and political issues that inform his praxis as an artist.
